narration from the beast of yucca flats

I was gonna do a horror-related post every day this month, but I got kinda sidetracked with personal stuff. I might backdate some, and I'll try to knock some more out. If you've never seen a Coleman Francis film, I would like to say don't, because if you think Ed Wood is the worst director in history you're in for a world of hurting. The Beast of Yucca Flats is notable for two things: one, it's (as far as I've been able to tell) the only film in history in which Tor Johnson is the best actor in the cast. The second is because the film is mostly made up of odds and ends, stock footage and people Coleman knew barely pretending to be detectives, he had to tie the whole thing together with narration, but not any kind of ordinary narration, oh no. Brint Corb has gone to the trouble of transcribing the complete narration for The Beast of Yucca Flats, and as a prose poem it's kinda amazing, a suitable companion to William Burroughs' The Last Words of Dutch Schultz or Robbe-Grillet sharing a crackpipe with James Ellroy. The film I'm working on will have a bonus audio track with narration directly inspired by this bit of genius, and if I get really ambitious I might do a TMR compression of the audio of the film.
